bolivian brosso burger

Brosso is a funny place in La Paz, Bolivia. A two story multicolour-interiored monstrosity of a place it is simultaneously a childrens playground, sundae cafeteria, piano bar, fast food joint and place for the wealthy to lounge (it´s actually very exclusive, filled with mainly the minority upper class spanish descendants).

Anyway I decide to take the Brosso Doble Burguesa for $3 which promptly arrives with both a chicken AND beef patty, ham AND bacon (?!), pickles, tomato, 2 types of cheese, lettuce, sweet bun and brosso *special* sauce... Initial thoughts are that a) the thing is too tall to fit in my mouth and b) why did i want both chicken and beef in one burger anyway?

The verdict...... not tasty! it´s not the double meat combo, or even the slice of spam in the middle, it´s the damn *special* sauce that is all over the dang thing. Muy malo! but for 3 bucks a worthwhile experiment i suppose.

next burger update from Brasil then!

fit for a king?

i´m a bit late in getting this one blogged but given how unspectacular it was there´s no harm in that. It was always a dubious choice to eat a burger in a german sausagehouse in arequipa, peru, and even though i ordered the most expensive one they had, the ¨royal king burger¨ it certainly was not something i´d ever serve to royalty or even let them catch a whiff of. Uninspiring patty and again with the sweet bun... nuff said.

So with that i give up on peruvian burgers and will stick to roast guinea pig and other delicacies, maybe Bolivia will have the tasty burger mastered, i certainly hope so!

Kiwi Burger

Hunger struck after a morning of white water rafting near Murchison on NZ's south island. The Commercial Hotel have maximised their burger fillings, which contained:

mushrooms, onions, beetroot, poached egg, bacon, cheese, lettuce, tomato, patty (not home-made... boo!), mayo + relish.

The only letdown was the patty itself. That sort of burger-crime was mitigated by the tastiness of the other ingredients. Tasty but could have been tastier, if you know what I mean.

that´s a tasty peruvian burger

don´t waste any time i say, first day in south america and already eaten burger numero uno. A cheeseburger with mushroom taken at a cafe on the cliffs looking over the beaches of Lima while drinking a Pilser beer. (incidentally I´d had the pleasure of tasting the pilser earlier in the day at the local supermarket where a tasty peruvian girl in a skin tight formula 1 style jumpsuit had been giving out free samples, brilliant! mental note for very popular supermarket to start up when i get home) burger itself was good but nothing special, but the setting sun, beer, hang-glider dude out front, 24deg temp, lazy wind and joy of impending adventure gives some bonus points surely?¿?¿ so all in all i rate it muy tasty!

more to come, from my vantage i could see peeps surfing or at least bobbing around waiting for waves, see if i can sort something out over coming days!
